Canada Vacation (4th Post)

Look out.... we have an underage driver! Uncle Donny was a little confused about how to drive the boat so Colby tried to help.

Everyone quickly realized trying to feed Colby was a bit of an art project. It definitely took more than 1 if you wanted it to be smooth. Here Diana, Lolli and Nick all try their handywork with the little man.

I'm not sure who the food was for in this shot.... Nick might have tasted it here!

Colby and Aunt Diana were very happy to see the food was all gone in this picture.

I couldn't believe how old Colby looked in this picture.... he's only 10 months.... but looks like he's 2!

Right on the breaking point of walking on his own. Colby's takin a few steps here and there from chair to table while holding on to nothing. Here Lolli helps Colby iwht his footwork.

Uncle Donny found a friendly snake trying to cross near the dock.

Nick get's in a little snooze after the long day of playing.

Mere created a little high chair for Colby using the kids rocking chair, and a towel. He did pretty good the first little bit.... but soon enough he'd slide right out of it and make his way for something more appealing.

On the 4th of July I dressed the kids up in their special shirts for a few pictures on the lawn at the cottage. Colby did pretty good for about 2 pictures... then he was headed in a different direction. I atleast was able to snap one good one!

As always I got a beautiful smile out of Izzy.....

The boys often went out during the evening to try their luck at catching fish. The last couple of night we were there they got really lucky with some catfish and walleye. Dad was the lucky guy and got to cook it all.

Nick with the walleye..... this is a first for the Desabrais'.

Danny and Matt.... I can't believe how much Matt has grown up in the last few years.

Ray, Danny and Izzy worked on the fireworks for the 4th of July. Thanks to Aunt Diana we were able to celebrate our holiday in Canada with the family!

A few posts ago I wrote about dad planning to carry up wood that Danny's shop had cut out so that Donny could put together cabinets for Mere's kitchen. Danny and Donny worked hard before we left to make sure Donny understood the basics of his job at hand.

Mere had the most beautiful pots of flowers planted on oher deck at the house.

Tash, Colby and Nick take a little play time before we head out to the airport.

A few family shots.

Mere and Pere with the grandkids.

The Desabrais'....

Lolli and Pa with Mere, Pere, Izzy and Colby...

We're so lucky to have such an amazing group of family and friends back in Canada.... we love and miss you all dearly!

Canada Vacation (3rd Post)

We always try to head up to Canada around July 1st or Canada Day for our dear friends to the North of us. This year Pere signed us up to have a float in the parade. The kids and Aunt Diana worked hard to decorate the float. They even painted a part of the sign to say "Greeting from Paris Texas" in honor of Lolli and Pa!

The girls are all planning which tattoo's they plan to use. Colby even got one.

Pere takes his usual seat on top of the garage to watch the parade.

Nick and Matt ready to drive us down the road.

Canada Vacation (2nd Post)

One of our favorite things to do in the summer is sit around the camp fire at the cottage down by the river. It's been even more memorable the past couple of years as my niece, Natasha has picked up playing the guitar. She had a few good songs to play and sing for the group on a couple of the nights we were there.

The past 3 years during our summer trip to Canada we have take a short trip with our good friend Kevin (Chevy) and Ann. This year we headed to the 1000 Islands area that is on the boarder of Canada and the US along the St. Lawrence River. We played two rounds of golf at Smuggler's Glen Golf Course and stayed the night at the Glen House Resort.

Danny's starts us off by making it over the gorge!

They had these adorondak chairs all through out the corse sitting behind the tee at each hole. Ann took some time to watch the boys swing.

Old buddies.... aren't these two just adorable. This course had some great views.

We had a visit from Pepe Le Pew's son too. Luckily he didn't have his stinker yet or Danny would have certainly gotten sprayed after all the chasing he did to get the "perfect shot".

We headed to Kington, Ontario for dinner at the Keg that night. The area had lots of little bars and resturants but nothing right on the water. We couldn't make our mind up on where to go for dinner.... so figured the Keg was a safe bet.

Here is a view out our patio door to our room. That's the St. Lawrence river straight ahead. You can see one little island out there.... with a house on it!

Our second round of golf on Wednesday morning.... it was a bit chilly out.

I was 20 feet below this eagle and he didn't move a muscle.... just watched me the entire time.

My dad and Cheryl (Pa and Lolli) drove up from Paris in there camper. They stopped in a few different towns overnight to enjoy the sites each city had. We timed things just right with our trip down to the 1000 Islands as they crossed the boarder about an hour after we finished our round of golf with Chevy and Ann. We head back up to Quyon with Lolli and Pa and were so happy to have them in Canada with us.

Thursday morning Pa and Colby had a good chat on the deck at the cottage. Colby used the plastic toy to bang against everything he saw.

Izzy and Tash painted rocks out on the beach for decoration.

A quick shot of Lolli and Pa's camper down by the cottage. The yellow cones cracked me up!

Tash, Izzy, Lolli and I went to the Strawberry farm to pick strawberries. I have wanted to do it every summer while we are there... but it's never worked out. I can finally check it off my bucket list.
